First Slotkin TV ad of 2020: ‘We’re at our strongest when we work together’
August 17, 2020
ROCHESTER, Mich. – Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI-8) will begin airing her campaign’s first television ad (“What’s Best”) of the 2020 campaign on Tuesday, highlighting her bipartisan work on responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and to reduce prescription drug costs.
“We’re at our best when we put partisanship aside,” Slotkin says in the ad, which focuses on her national security service under presidents of both parties and how that service formed her bipartisanship approach to Congress. The ad also outlines her bipartisan efforts to reduce the cost of prescription drugs and to combat the outsourcing of critical medical supplies to China.
Slotkin closes the ad by saying: “We’re at our strongest when we work together.”
Throughout her first term in Congress, Slotkin has worked to deliver bipartisan solutions to the issues most important to her constituents: the public health and economic fallout from COVID-19, the price of healthcare and prescription drugs, bringing manufacturing back to Michigan, and bringing a sense of decency and civility back to politics.
Her Real Time Benefits Act, which would help lower out-of-pocket costs for prescription drugs by giving patients and doctors real-time updates on the price of prescription drugs before they leave the doctor’s office, passed the House as part of drug-price legislation with broad bipartisan support.
She has introduced a series of bipartisan bills, the Made in America Medical Supply Chain Initiative, to reduce dependence on China and other sources of critical medical supplies. And in July, she joined a bipartisan group of co-sponsors – nine Republicans and nine Democrats – to introduce the Strengthening America’s Strategic National Stockpile Act, to boost domestic manufacturing of critical medical items and improve management of the national stockpile of medical supplies.
