Slotkin Rolls Out ‘Bipartisanship in Action’ Video Series in Final Stretch of Campaign

Oxford Township Supervisor, others to share their experience working with Rep. Slotkin

LANSING, Mich.— A new video series from U.S. Representative Elissa Slotkin’s campaign will showcase constituents, former national security colleagues and elected Republican leaders discussing the Congresswoman’s bipartisan work and steadfast commitment to serving her community. The roll-out comes after her campaign announced that U.S. Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) will travel to Michigan next Tuesday to support Slotkin’s re-election bid.

Today, in the first of several “Bipartisanship in Action” videos, Oxford Township Supervisor and elected Republican Jack Curtis shares his experience working with Slotkin in the aftermath of last year’s shooting at Oxford High School.

She came to help. It wasn’t a photo opportunity. It was true. Honest, what can I do to help you? She brought in advisors from the Department of Justice, to help us with our cost of our incident, the healing of our incident and the prosecution of our incident. She worked with us on a daily basis – whether it was on the phone, or whether she held her meetings, we opened up our township hall and allowed her to have her town hall meetings here – because we needed help,” said Curtis. “We had a lot of political people come here from both sides of the aisle, but when Elissa Slotkin came here and said, ‘We’re going to do this, we’re going to provide you how to get this,’ it was true, it was honest, and it became factual. Some of the other people that came here, they looked at me and said, ‘We’re going to do this.’ We never saw them again. Elissa kept continuing to come back, providing opportunities for us to heal, to offer our community to heal. We gladly accepted it because it was true, honest and sincere.”

Rep. Slotkin has secured $1.07 million in federal dollars to support the community’s recovery and is fighting for more.

Additional videos include elected leaders and community members in both the former MI-08 and new MI-07, as well as members of the national security community. They will be shared on social media through Election Day to highlight Slotkin’s work across party lines in Congress, her commitment to her constituents, and her experience serving presidents of both parties in the White House and the Pentagon.

“I’m grateful that my campaign’s attracted the support of Democrats and Republicans alike,” said Slotkin. “That’s because I’m in Congress to get stuff done. I’ll do that with anyone—liberal or conservative, left or right—who comes to the table willing to negotiate and ready to actually work. I’m proud to be named the most bipartisan member of Michigan’s congressional delegation and one of the most bipartisan representatives in the entire House—because that’s how we make progress on the issues that matter.”

Slotkin’s Republican support comes on the heels of a number of high-profile endorsements from historically bipartisan organizations, including the Michigan Association of Police Officers, the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce.

So far in 2022, two nonpartisan groups have confirmed that Slotkin is one of the most bipartisan members of Congress. The Lugar Center and the Common Ground Committee both rated Slotkin the most bipartisan member of Michigan’s congressional delegation and among the top 10 most bipartisan in the entire House of Representatives.

Another analysis found that Slotkin is the most independent-minded Democrat in the House. CQ Roll Call’s 2022 Party Unity Study found that Slotkin voted against her party more than any other Democratic lawmaker. She is a member of the Problem Solvers Caucus, the only truly bipartisan caucus in Congress.
